Falling behind...

Ok, so I fell a little behind.
Or a lot behind. Whatever. Forgive me. I feel like MAJOR crap-ola. Sunday I went to work and sat behind the uniforms counter feeling like I'll be hit by a truck. But the best part was coming home. The house was clean and after dinner at my parent's house, Mike sent me to bed at 7pm in hopes I'd get better over night.
No such luck, I only felt worse the next morning. So, I went to work for 2 1/2 hours before Anita sent me home...and I spent most of Monday on the couch or in bed with Hulu. By the time I passed out at 10, I thought I'd be so much better today.
No...not even I am that cool.
Mike got up at 4, like he does every day he goes to work and I fell back to sleep shortly after I heard his car drive away. And when I woke back up at nine, I couldn't breathe and I was coughing a lot of crap up. Yay me. Thankfully, it's my day off. So my mom brought me some cough syrup and I feel good enough to make the house look good. Laundry? Nope, you're asking for too much. Maybe, if we had washer and dryer hook ups in our  house...ah, wishful thinking. (Ironic, huh? We have a washer and dryer but can't use them!)
Anywho, back to my list, shall we?

Number 9: crazy nights
Yes, i'm thankful for crazy nights. Saturday (the day before I got sick) we had Chad and Molly over for pizza, movies and video games. We watched Zombieland and then played Scott Pilgram vs the World on the Xbox. Oh yeah...we broke the Xbox TWICE. It was epic.

Number 10: modern medicine
I am especially grateful for it right now. The cough syrup my mom brought me had an okay grape after taste but it still smelled like silly-putty. But it's more than just that. Without our modern marvels, I wouldn't have my titanium spine and Mike wouldn't have his medicine to keep his heart beating normally. Of course, sometimes it fails us (like with Haly and my Grandma Wood) or keeps us alive when we don't understand why (Grandpa Wood) but we've come so far and only have so much farther to go.

Number 11: Mike's job
This job came to us right when I saw no light at the end of the tunnel. And the only way for Mike to go at the mine is up, which he plans on doing. Yes, Mike has to be up by 4am and then drive 80 miles to Gabbs. I feel guilty about it everyday. But he does it because he loves me and wants us to have the best. And one day, our little minions will be running around and he loves the thought of that...so we need every penny since we plan on having four. But the job is so good for him, he seems to thrive under hard labor and a scary work environment.

Number 12: Our bed
Since I've been spending a lot of time in it, feeling like poo, I'm very thankful for it. Manila gave us her old bed, along with the memory pad. It's a queen, so it's nice and cozy. We fight over the blankets and wake each other up in the middle of the night when we discover we're half off the edge because the other is being a bed hog but I love it. Maybe one day we'll upgrade to a king but right now, I love the closeness

Number 13: our country
I'm so thankful to live in a land we're we are free. And where we have a military to keep us safe. It's something I think American's take for granted since we can't see past our borders to the lands where life is so opposite.

Number 14: the church
It was something that I didn't understand and in the past few years, pushed away until about a year ago. But I don't like to think about where I'd be without it. And being able to share it with Mike is such a blessing. I love being married to a man who holds the priesthood. I'm finally with someone who doesn't mock what I hold so dear in my heart, and that's my testimony of repentance, forgiveness and a God who loves his children so much. Without this church, Mike and I could not be together with our children and our families forever. I can't even imagine any kind of eternity without them.

Number 15: music
I'm currently listening to Nickelback. But I love music. I love to sing it, I love to hear it....I just love it. Without it, life would be empty. I'm thankful I married a man who feels the same way, even though the music we love is so different.

  1. Aubrey, I am so proud of you. You are such a wonderful example to me and the light of your testimony shines so bright! Thanks for being my most excellent niece. (I really wish I had learned what you have much sooner!)
